5 - 3 Universal Designed Mobility Support Geographic Information System for All

چکیده
Recent years have seen a great deal of progress in the research and development of ubiquitous systems that provide pedestrians with various types of information and support to ensure safety and security in movement [1]. This paper reports on the results of research on a Geographic Information System (GIS) to assist all pedestrians — including the disabled and elderly — in moving about, through the provision of information on barriers and barrier-free pedestrian spaces. This system may serve as a solid base for the establishment of an overall mobility support system. In the past, municipalities and volunteers led the way in research on electronic maps and pedestrian navigation GIS to provide information on obstacles and accessible pedestrian spaces. These institutions and volunteers have prepared electronic maps that allow users to retrieve accessibility information for potential destinations and routes (indicating shops and public facilities); the maps have then been provided to the public via the Internet. However, these maps are intended only for individuals with certain types of disability. To date, no one has implemented universal design in electronic maps, which would offer the needed accessibility information to all pedestrians, including the disabled and elderly, facing different physical difficulties[2] [3]. Given this background, we aimed at developing a universal-design pedestrian navigation GIS for all pedestrians, including the disabled and elderly, proposing the Mobility Support GIS in 2000. We have since conducted further research on this system[4]. In this paper, Section 2 describes an overview and various research problems regarding the Mobility Support GIS, and Section 3 describes the universal design of the pedestrian-route network investigated through the construction of

Potential site selection in ecotourism planning using spatial decision support tool
Northern areas of Pakistan have blessed with extremely beautiful natural landscapes, waterfalls, glaciated mountains, biodiversity rich valleys and forests and have extraordinary potential for ecotourism. Study is designed to propose potential sites for ecotourism in Kohistan, which is a least developed but biodiversity rich area of Pakistan. Poor planning and mismanagement of tourism practice...
متن کاملA GIS as a Decision Support System for Planning Sustainable Mobility in a Case-Study
In this study we support the strategic environmental assessment process of the Coordination Plan of the District of Naples through the selection of an indicators set to monitor and evaluate the planned actions towards a sustainable mobility in the District. This process is implemented inside a GIS and its reliability is tested by linguistic hedges modelled from fuzzy sets.
متن کاملA-Globe: Agent Platform with Inaccessibility and Mobility Support
At present several Java-based multi-agent platforms from different developers are available, but none of them fully supports agent mobility and communication inaccessibility. They are thus no suitable for experiments with real-world simulation. In this paper we describe architecture of newly developed agent platform A-globe. It is fast and lightweight platform with agent mobility support. Besid...
متن کاملDetermination of Minimum Data Set for Designing a Diagnosis Decision Support System and Medication Follow-Up for Multiple Sclerosis
Background and Purpose: Diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) is complicated because of the lack of definite factor. Decision support systems are expert systems which help physicians in decision-making process. First step in designing the system is identification of a minimum dataset (MDS). This study aimed to determine minimum dataset required to design diagnosis decision support system. Mater...
متن کاملIs It More Important to Address the Issue of Patient Mobility or to Guarantee Universal Health Coverage in Europe?; Comment on “Regional Incentives and Patient Cross-Border Mobility: Evidence From the Italian Experience”
This paper discusses whether European institutions should devote so much attention and funding to cross-border healthcare or they should instead prioritise guaranteeing universal health coverage (UHC), inequalities and tackling the effects of austerity measures. The paper argues through providing the evidence in both areas of research, that the priority at European level from a public health an...
